Miyo’s Easy Peasy Recipes #1 – Japanese Style Spaghetti

A delicious infusion of Japanese and Italian flavours

200g spaghetti

1 tsp salt

1 Tin of Tuna

1 tbsp Mirin (Japanese rice wine)

1 tbsp Tsuyu (Bonito flavoured soup base) or soy sauce as a substitute.

3-4 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tsp Japanese Seaweed flakes or a small strip of Nori ripped into tiny pieces.

Step 1

Pour water into a saucepan, add salt and bring to the boil.

Step 2

Add spaghetti and simmer for about 10 minutes or to packet instructions

Step 3

Whilst spaghetti is cooking, open tin of tuna and drain off liquid.

Step 4

Break the tuna into a bowl then pour over the Mirin and Tsuyu, add the mayo and mix together.

Step 5

When cooked, drain off spaghetti and toss in the tuna mixture and divide evenly between two plates. Garnish the dish with seaweed flakes. It’s as simple as that!
