Japan’s super punk-pop trio Shonen Knife secured a landslide victory over artists WU LYF and Bright Eyes for their single “Perfect Freeedom”, to be played all week long on the BBC radio programme 6 Music by scooping up a staggering 88% of votes, thanks to their loyal fanbase and admirers . The double A-side single which includes “P.Y.O” plus the bonus track “Evil Birds” is released on the UK record label Damnably and is available for download on iTunes.
Their melodic, uplifting music has gained them a huge following in Japan and overseas, and their latest triumph will undoubtedly win them even more adulation and fans.
Timing couldn’t be better for the girls as they celebrate their 30th anniversary this year coinciding with a UK tour which kicks off on 12 August.

Evil Birds is my favorite of those 3 songs… I’m glad they added it to “Free Time” 🙂

I agree, Mikey, it’s a cracking song – very infectious! I’d just like to point out though that “Evil Birds” doesn’t actually appear on the album Free Time. However, the other two tracks, “Perfect Freedom” and “P.Y.O” do. I’m sure this is what you meant 🙂
