Gallery Talk: “Japanese Landscape Prints: Then & Now” Ukiyo-e Pop

Part of the Ukiyo-e & Contemporary Japonism exhibition!

Location: ICN gallery 96-98 Leonard Street, EC2A 4RH London

Dr. Monika Hinkel’s last talk for the Ukiyo-e Pop exhibition provides an insight into Japanese landscape prints from the late 19th century to the present day.

Works by Kobayashi Kiyochika, Kawase Hasui, Hiratsuka Unichi, Koizumi Kishio, Munakata Shiko and Yamaguchi Akira will illustrate the development of this dominant woodblock print genre. Popular, recurring topics like ‘Mount Fuji’ and ‘Famous Views of Tokyo’ will be explored.
