Event: Hyper Japan 2015 In Pictures
The UK’s biggest celebration of Japanese culture!
Hyper Japan, the UK’s biggest and best-loved annual J-Culture convention, returned on 11th – 13th July for another weekend extravaganza of all things Japanese from the authentic and traditional to the contemporary. Thousands of Japanophiles descended upon London’s O2 in Greenwich over the three days for an exciting time of live music, fashion shows, videogames, manga/anime activities, martial arts demonstrations and food.
But the biggest attraction of course was the impressive line-up of special guests from the world of entertainment, who had flown in especially. There was singer and J-MELO host May J, celebrity chef Rika Yukimasa (Dining with the Chef), Michael Booth (author of ‘Sushi and Beyond’ which has been made into a 24 episode animation series shown on NHK WORLD), kawaii J-pop idol acts TOKYO GIRLS’ STYLE, Dempagumi. inc, Rio Hiiragi, Honey Spice, Die Milch, and X JAPAN rock superstars YOSHIKI x TOSHI, to name but a few. There was also the welcome return of master Shamisen player Hibiki Ichikawa and Japanese folk singer Akari Mochizuki.
Hyper Japan also teamed up with JAPAN NIGHT, a rock event held at London’s O2 convert venue indigo on the first two nights and featured rock bands Ling tosite sigure, Okamoto’s, [Alexandros], and the mighty heavy rock/metal duo VAMPS.
As is always the case when reporting on Hyper Japan, there are far too may things to mention in one post, so once again Diverse Japan lets the visuals do the talking. Enjoy!
