The second season of a series is usually better as the characters are already established, as is the general story, so it makes for a lot to look forward to. Spice and Wolf is an anime that unlike many is for both boys and girls to watch as the characters can appeal to all, and there isn’t too much of the cutesy chibi stuff that is associated with many shojo anime.

Japan has a rich history of worshipping fox deities, and in Spice and Wolf, the villagers of an old town are ravaged by a wolf that eats all their corn, so that they have nothing when it comes to their harvest at the end of the year.
