Hyper Japan 2012 Christmas – 3 Days Of J-Culture Fun & Excitement At Earls Court London

Ding dong merrily on high, Hyper Japan Christmas 2012 is coming!

There are only a couple more days to go before the biggest UK J-culture event Hyper Japan opens its doors at the Brompton Hall, Earls Court, London for what promises to be a fantastic weekend of Japanese fun and frolic.  The three-day event starts Friday 23^rd November at 14.00 and ends on the Sunday at 17.00. There’ll be an array of stalls and booths making up Hyper Japan’s Japanese Christmas Market – the place to go for unique gifts which friends and family will enjoy the whole year round. There are goods on offer to suit any taste, ranging from bargain kawaii accessories and toys to premium sake and stylishly presented Japanese sweets. Also, NHK World, the international broadcasting service of NHK, Japan’s public broadcaster, will be coming to Hyper Japan, bringing with it perhaps the world’s most kawaii TV show, as well as some mouthwatering culinary entertainment.

The main stage will be a platform for many incredible performers to demonstrate their talents and skills as well as being the place for various other attractions such as fashion shows and talks. Here’s just a few of the attractions taking place on the stage throughout the weekend:

Tomoyasu Hotei: Hotei has performed with rock legends such as Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, Joni Mitchell and Ry Cooder; he has also composed widely for film, including Kill Bill and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well as numerous Japanese films. He has performed at the Olympics Games closing ceremony in Atlanta 1996, as well as at the Royal Albert Hall, and countless sell-out arena performances in Japan.

KAMUI: you have ever seen the film Kill Bill: Volume 1 then you will most likely be familiar with the work of Japanese Samurai Sword Artists KAMUI. Founded by Tetsuro Shimaguchi, Hiroaki Kawaguchi, and Juri Manase in 1998, KAMUI is a sword performance troop with an edge. Their unique style of weapon performance incorporates detailed sword moves and high-level techniques, blending many different kinds of fighting styles.

NINJAMAN JAPAN: This visual kei rock group are a four piece visual kei act, a genre of performance heavily influenced by glam rock, punk, and heavy metal.

Tomoca: This talented performer has been on the stage from a young age, and is an accomplished vocalist. Tomoca’s act brings together a unique fusion of modern pop style songs, accompanied by both modern Western and traditional Japanese instruments, which she refers to as Wa-pop (literally, Japanese pop).

Mr. Mitsuhisa Ishikawa and Ryusuke Hikawa: The Japan Media Arts Festival presents a special talk with Mr. Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, of Production I.G (the anime powerhouse behind international hit Ghost in the Shell, and Cannes nominated Innocence (aka Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence), and Ryusuke Hikawa, acclaimed Japanese animation critic. They will also be showcasing some award winning features.

The MARBLE Collection: A fashion culture event which was first held in Shibuya, Tokyo in July 2011. Featuring fashion styles from the three key alternative fashion districts of Tokyo; Shibuya, Harajuku, and Akihabara, this was an unmissable event for any fan of Tokyo street fashion, and was hugely popular amongst fashion conscious girls in their teens and early twenties.
