HYPER JAPAN 2012 Spring

A fabulous time was had by all at the three-day J-culture event HYPER JAPAN 2012 Spring, which was held in February during the weekend of Friday 24th at Brompton Hall at Earls Court, London.

The attendance figures for the opening day were respectable. However, hordes of people of all ages, many dressed in cosplay, descended upon the premises on the following two days, making the event a massive success for a third year running.

The Special Guests lineup was perhaps the most impressive yet: Director Miki Satoshi (Adrift in Tokyo, Instant Swamp), and actress Eri Fuse (Turtles Are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers, Cutie Honey: The Live) who appeared on stage together for a Third Window Films Q&A session, Judo Olympic Champion Maki Tsukada, and J-pop singer Natsuko Aso.

A variety of performances took place on the main stage and in a smaller arena and included various martial arts demonstrations, an exhibition of a Japanese tea ceremony, live music, a fashion show, traditional dance, and cosplay competitions.

The event also played host to the UK Sushi Roll Championship 2012, and the Eat-Japan Sake Awards – two popular attractions. And of course there were plenty of stalls positioned around the venue selling delicious Japanese food, DVDs, clothes, toys and cute trinkets, artwork and much more…

There are far too many things to mention here. So we’ll let the photos do the talking, since a picture can say a thousand words. Enjoy!

May I ask what plugin that is for the images?

It’s a feature which is already installed by WordPress.com – have an option of grouping images as a gallery or slideshow. In this case I chose to have them as a slideshow.
